Q&A- Antoinette

It's time again to introduce you to another one of our Gribble House investigators. Meet Antoinette!

1. What brought you to the Gribble House?
I got sucked into the dark enigmatic history of the building. I love finding pictures and hearing stories of old gone days of Savannah.

2. What do you enjoy most about Gribble?
I love hearing the guests describe who they were in touch with during the investigation. The Gribble House has changed so much physically but sometimes you have an experience that sends you back.

3. What do your friends and family think about you working in a documented haunted building?
My friends always want to hear the stories! Some have investigated here themselves. My family is not so enthusiastic. My mother thinks I'm making myself vulnerable to all kinds of unpleasantness and grief which is how I feel about yard work, and math all of which she always encouraged.

4. What is your most memorable guest experience?
I once saw a woman's hair start to rise after a man in the group prompted a spirit we'd been communicating with over the ghost box to touch  his mother's hair.

5. Has any experience you've had in the building left you feeling uneasy?
I've had a conversation with a spirit in the Gribble House who told me his name and didn't frighten me. Then while investigating in another building on the other side of town I asked if any spirits had come to the building with us and the same spirit said his name then followed it with mine. Now I can't leave the building without feeling uneasy unless I remember to ask not to be followed

Weekly Rundown 1.25.2015

During the past week, we've seen a lot of activity in the Gribble House. Here's what happened...

This past Sunday night, the group investigating had a group of 4 teenage girls in it, and their high energy equaled a high amount of activity. Those ladies had responses follow them throughout the entire building. The girls moved to the Stage area and the activity continued. They began to communicate with a little girl named Isabelle, who told them she was three years old. Both the Raggedy Ann doll and the REM pod were very active on the Stage as they spoke through the Ghost Box with Isabelle.

Another group investigating, two women, had a great deal of luck with the Ovulis. One of the women said that she was a teacher, and the Ovulis immediately came up with "Teacher". Very cool!

On Thursday night, we had another great investigation, that came with a few surprises. The groups that investigated had some previous experience and we're quite ready and raring to go. One young couple that was investigating were in the Slave Quarters were using the Ghost Box. The couple started speaking in an Eastern language and got responses. That was amazing and very surprising!

Another man who was using the Ghost Box was called by his name, and then was called an "Ass". Yet again, another example of how the spirits in the Gribble House aren't always the most welcoming.

Last evening we had what seemed to be a lot of interesting responses through the Ghost Box. As usual, Paul was heard around the stage, as well as a woman named Annette. A few children were heard around the building last night as well, a little girl named Anna and another named Amy. The little girl Amy told everyone that she was "Five years old", and she was heard around the Stage area. In the Slave Quarters, that's where we heard from Anna.

While they were speaking with Anna in the Slave Quarters another, older male voice was heard through the Ghost Box. This man, however, was in no mood to communicate. He told them to "Leave" and that he didn't want to talk. Another male voice that came through was from John, who told us he had been murdered, by someone named Chip. When the girls investigating asked them how they had come to the Gribble House, the response they got was "The wind". Another spirit that was coming through the Box asked the investigators to open the back door of the Gribble House building so that he could leave. The Ghost Box was definitely the star of the show last night.

Every night is different in the building, and we love sharing with you all what's happening. Stay tuned for more updates on the Gribble House Paranormal Experience...

Q&A- Kait

Another lead investigator we'd like to introduce her to is Kait... here's what she had to say when we gave her the same Q&A!

1. What brought you to the Gribble House?
Ever since I was little my sister and I have always wanted to do a haunted history tour down south. It's always been something I've wanted to try and when I saw the ad for a tour guide position at The Gribble House I thought, this is my chance.

2. What do you enjoy most about Gribble?
I enjoy all the experiences here, you can't logically explain some of the things that happen. I love the feeling I get when I get a response from the ghost box, it's fantastic.

3. What do your friends and family think about you working in a documented haunted building?
My family and friends think it's pretty cool. They think it's an interesting opportunity.

4. What is your most memorable guest experience?
I had gone off to do some straight evps with my phone and I asked if there was anyone there who wanted to talk to me. After a few minutes I went back to check on a group that was there and they asked me what my name was again, so I told them. They said that the ghost box had started saying my name a few minutes ago and it didn't stop for the rest of the night. I thought that was pretty cool. Sadly I didn't get a recording of it.

5. Has any experience you've had in the building left you feeling uneasy?
Every time I'm in the slave quarters it feels like someone puts their hand on the back of my neck. Unless I'm wearing a scarf or something that covers my neck it happens everything without fail. It's always colder behind me then everywhere else in the room.

Weekly Rundown 1.18.2015

Happy Sunday to everyone! We'd like to update you on what happened during our investigations this week in the Gribble House.

On Tuesday Night, the Raggedy Ann doll proved to be pretty popular. A group of three guys was investigating using the doll, and we're communicating with a little girl through the Yes/ No device. At one point, one of the guys asked if she would pull on the Raggedy Ann, and she obliged him.

The group investigating Tuesday also got to hear from spirit who called himself Mitch, and recorded a few pretty good readings from him.

Friday evening, Kait and Antoinette were our lead investigators, and both of the two girls heard their named come through the Ghost Box a few times. A few pretty interesting things happened. One group was investigating in the area of the old Gribble House (the caged area), and got a pretty strong and angry reaction. They were using the Ghost Box, and were getting some negative responses to being British. The same group kept hearing from one spirit over and over who referred to itself as "The Beib". Kait thought maybe this particular spirit was a big fan of Justin Beiber, but we're not really sure what the spirit was trying to convey with its nickname.

Last evening, Saturday, was a pretty activity packed night. There was such an impressive amount of energy, that everyone investigating stayed to talk about what had taken place in the building. Every area of the warehouse was a hotspot, with orbs in quite a few of the photos taken by the investigators- some even had faces in them.

In the Slave Quarters, the names William, Rob, Robbie and Phillip kept coming through, as well as one deep and gruff voice that would never reveal his name. At one point, one of the chairs in the room moved across the floor as if "someone had bumped into it". At one point, one of the men investigating asked a spirit what his favorite food was. Quite promptly he got the response, "Soup".

The Stage Area was very active as well. Paul was heard from, as usual, and he was his same old snarky and biting self. Just as in the Slave Quarters, the investigators heard from William by the Stage, as well.

Towards the end of the night, Kelley and Kelsey, the lead investigators for the evening, were using the ghost box with a few other guests while sitting on the stage. One of the girls investigating, who also happened to be named Kelsey, asked "How many spirits are hear". She got an extremely clear response of "There's 40".

Then something kind of strange happened. Both Kelsey's then were thinking about asking the spirits what color Kelley's hair is. Before either of them could actually vocalize that question, through the Ghost Box they heard "Red head". Both of them were pretty surprised and taken back by that. (Take a look back through some of our previous postings, and you'll see that Kelly DEFINITELY has red hair).

At the end of the night when all the investigators were recapping what happened that evening, one of the gentlemen said he had seen something strange at the beginning of the night. When they were walking through the building to scope out the hot spots, he was looking towards the garage door by the big black curtain. He then saw a solid black figure walk in front of the low right green light. The figure was solid enough to black it out. He said he even continued to watch to make sure it wasn't a flashing light, but those lights don't flash. Kelley put a motion sensor over by where he had seen the figure, and about 15 minutes later, it went off.

It was a great week of investigations in the building. If you've recently investigated with the Gribble House Paranormal Experience (or even not so recently), we'd love to hear from you, and see any pictures you might have taken!

Investigation Update

We investigate in the Gribble House 360 night a year, and no two days are the same. Case in point- just the other evening, Monday night, Kelsey (one of our lead investigators) entered the building feeling pretty good. By the end of the night, she was drained, as if someone had drugged her. Everything was normal until she entered the Slave Quarters for the first time that evening, and since that moment, she felt dizzy and out of sorts- even so far as having memory lapses. The Slave Quarters definitely proved to be a hot spot on Monday night.

One of the women investigating that evening felt as if a small child had wrapped themselves around her legs while she was sitting in a chair in the Slave Quarters. Kelsey asked if one of the spirits could move something in the room, and just a few moments late a chair right next to the woman moved, scraping across the floor. Just a few minutes later, the woman's shirt was tugged on- hard.

All through the evening there was very heavy, disembodied breathing coming from by the window in the Slave Quarters, and every so often by the door as well.

We get spirits that come back time and time again, and other times we only hear from them occasionally. At one point in the evening, a heavy smell of rotten meat came over the Slave Quarters. When Kelsey asked who was making the room stink, the name that came through the Ghost Box was "Rob", and another voice said, "Robbie". Kelsey has only ever smelled that stench once before, and the same name was accused of that rotten odor that time as well.

The REM pod was positioned in the middle of the room for most of the evening. At one point, they could hear scuffling feet cross the room, while the REM pod simultaneously went off. Around the same time, a light mist-like anomaly shot from the female investigators legs, and darted over towards the curtain. A short time later, her boyfriend (who entered the building a skeptic) saw a dark figure move very fast in front of him, just in the middle of the room.

To top it all off, everyone investigating kept getting hit with icy blasts of air, with the room temperature dropping a whole seven degrees at one point. Kelsey has investigated with us for quite a while now, and even she claimed that this particular evening was one of the craziest nights of activity she's seen in a while. You never quite know what's going to happen in the Gribble House...

Q&A- Kelley

Time to introduce another member of the Gribble House Crew... Kelley has been working with the Gribble House for a while now, and we did the same Q&A with her to find out how she feels about her job as an investigator!

 1. What brought you to the Gribble House?
Right when I found out what the Gribble House and crew was all about, I wanted to be a part of it. I have enjoyed every minute of my time here, even the scary parts. I really feel that it wasn't by chance that my path led here.

2. What do you enjoy most about Gribble?
Being on the Gribble House grounds, a location that is so paranormally active in Savannah, has given me hours of audio recordings to review. I actually enjoy this part the most. The EVPs and Spirit Box sessions that I've captured frightened me at first, but now the investigating truly fascinates me.

3. What do your friends and family think about you working in a documented haunted building?
My family and friends often remind me not to let any ghosts or other things follow me home. After hearing some EVPs captured in the building, none of them are skeptics anymore.

4. What is your most memorable guest experience?
During an investigation, a guest had her unique name come through the Spirit Box several times. She asked if the spirits would speak her name using the device, though she hadn't stated her name, several different voices said "Nannette". This happened in every area that she went.

5. Has any experience you've had in the building left you feeling uneasy?
I don't particularly like being in the Slave Quarters alone, even when setting up the equipment. I've had my upper arm firmly grabbed a few times on my way to and in that room. It creeps me out, but am curious to know why I am being grabbed like that. Remembering that these spirits with energies and emotions were once people too, helps.

6. Anything you'd like to add?
I find it really interesting that there are so many child spirits here. Feeling them hug my legs, seeing the temperature drop abruptly from my thighs down only, and hearing "Mommy" coming from the Spirit Box was really amazing.

The Weekly Rundown 1.11.2015

We love to keep you guys up to date on what's going on in the Gribble House, and this past week we had a great time investigating. Here's what happened...

Tuesday night was an interesting evening. It seems like sometimes the spirits are just as excited to interact with us as we are with them! At one point by the stage area, after a great deal of ghost meter activity, the group heard "amazing" and "impressive" come from the ghost box. It sounds like the spirit was excited about the results they were getting!

Two guests, Sierra and Chris, told the spirits that they were leaving, to which they got the response of "wonderful." Kelley then asked if any of the spirits would like to come home with her, which elicited a firm "I will" from the ghost box. We sometimes take our investigations home with us, whether we like to or not.

On Friday Night, we had a great group of guests investigating with us- two of whom were avid ghost hunters. In fact, this couple, the Bashams, has come back to the Gribble House each year for the past three years to investigate for her birthday. Shout out to the Bashams!! This couple brought their own equipment to investigate with, including a MEL meter and hand held recorder (which is what you can see in the picture). The Bashams agreed to let us know if they captured any cool evidence once they've analyzed everything they collected that night. We love that!

Another group that was investigating that night were Nick and Brandon. These two guys had an amazing moment in the building. While using the ghost box, Brandon asked if the spirit would rather "Speak to Nick or Brandon?". The spirit immediately replied "Nick". Well, the two guys looked at each other shocked, just as the spirit insisted "Nick" one more time. It doesn't get much better than that!

Saturday night was just as awesome. Everyone who investigated came in with an open mind, and that's the best way to start out the night. The EMF detector and Raggedy Ann were the stars of the night. At one point in the Slave Quarters, a guest asked the spirit they were talking with to sit down in the chair with the EMF detector and it went up to red immediately and continued to flash yellow! That's a perfect response.

A little bit later on, a women was standing by the stage and asked a child to please "touch the doll". Almost immediately the hand lit up. She asked again if the child would touch both hands. Again, almost like on command, both hands lit up!

All in all, it was a great week of investigation for the Gribble House Paranormal Experience, and we look forward for more to come!

Q&A- Jim

Continuing the trend, it's time to introduce another member of our Gribble House Crew. This is Jim, and he's been with us since the beginning. We asked him the same questions as Garry and Tracy, and this is what he had to say...
1. What brought you to the Gribble House?
I was always interested in the paranormal. I watched all the ghost hunting shows. When there was an opportunity to join the Gribble House crew, I jumped at the chance to get that experience.
2. What do you enjoy most about Gribble?
The best thing about the Gribble House is even though we investigate the same building every night the experiences are different every night. Our guests get to investigate a haunted building and it’s a blast to watch their reactions and how much they get involved.
3. What do your friends and family think about you working in a documented haunted building?
Some think it's cool I get to do this and some think I'm nuts.
4. What is your most memorable guest experience?
My most memorable guest was a lady from Charleston. She was here with her fiancĂ© and was very into the investigation. She was very aggressive with her questions and continuously asked the spirits to use her energy. They did. Great interaction and she was left exhausted. I had to take her out of the building. She later wrote a trip advisor saying it was the best experience but would never ask for spirits to use her energy. It was an awesome investigation.
5. Has any experience you've had in the building left you feeling uneasy?
I have never felt uneasy in the building even though I have seen and heard some great stuff. There are times after a tour when you are putting the equipment away and you will feel like you are being watched of someone is behind you.
6. Anything you'd like to add?
The best part is when our guests participate and are asking questions and have a great time. You feel like you have given them something special that they may never get to do again.

Investigation Update 01.06.2015

We don't always get the friendliest spirits in the Gribble House. On Saturday night, a group of our investigators got to experience first hand one of those unfriendly encounters.

One group was over by the stage and was using a ghost box to illicit responses from spirits in the building, just like any other night. As they were asking random questions a rather unpleasant voice came through. The investigators conversed with this voice and he bragged about how he had killed over twenty people. The voice even went so far as to ominously claim he had killed "a kid", as well. Just after this announcement from the ghost box, the temperature dropped significantly.

Because the group was using an infrared thermometer, they were able to determine where the temperature was dropping, and follow it as it went through the building. As the dropping temperature moved away, the investigators asked if the spirit wished for them to follow along, to which they received a firm "yes".

They followed the spirit across the building diagonally over to the caged area where the warehouse floor dips down slightly. Not knowing that the ground was uneven there, one of the guests tripped and almost fell down. That guest then asked if the spirit was trying to kill them, which only garnished a response of maniacal laughter through the ghost box.

We can't control who or what comes through the ghost boxes, or who resides inside the Gribble House. The only thing we can suggest is that if you never taunt or mock the spirits you encounter. You may not like the results.

Investigation Update 01.04.2015

Friday Night at the Gribble House was GREAT! We had two sold out tours, with all the good stuff happening. In fact, on the first tour, the activity was so high that investigators didn't want to leave. Here are some of the high points...

We sometimes find that spirits like to target, or follow around one particular group. That happened on Friday night for one of our groups. A spirit who called himself "Jerome" kept coming through the ghost box for one particular set of investigators.

One of the woman in the group said he sounded African American, and that it was always the same voices coming through. Another group was using the ghost box and got a full name to come through. "Margaret Fox" was her name. We may be able to do some research and see if anyone named Margaret Fox lived in Savannah, or nearby the site of the Gribble House at some point in the past.

Two sensitives were in attendance on Friday Night as well; a woman and her daughter. They heard from a child through the ghost box- a little girl who claimed to be an orphan. The most peculiar thing about the conversation with the little girl was that she was apparently "afraid" of a dominating force in the building.

One investigator asked "How many people are in this building", and clear as day a voice responded "17". We just so happened to have seventeen investigators that night...

And after all of that, another female investigator had her ankle grabbed, fairly strongly, and another woman was touched on the hand. The spirits really wanted us to know they were among us this past Friday night.
